Studio Site: Ziva Yoga

Introducing Ziva Yoga. A cozy yoga studio in the heart of Singapore who wanted to sprinkle a bit of yoga magic on everyone, without making you feel like you gotta be a human pretzel to belong. With yoga being so popular now, there is very little known about yoga. So their special sauce lies in weaving together breath-work, movement and meditation to help Singapore’s urban dwellers release the different layers of stress. Breath-work for the nervous system, movement for the body and meditation for the mind. Since this was my first time designing a website for a yoga studio in Singapore, I did a little bit of research during the planning stage to understand what the yoga studio design requirements are. One fun thing I discovered is that it’s important to have public transport directions in the footer!

After browsing through a bunch of yoga teacher and studio websites in Singapore, I noticed something interestingmost of them were missing a brand story. It felt like they were all about the poses and schedules, but there was no heart or soul. You know, the kind of story that makes you feel connected and inspired? It got me thinking about how much a compelling brand story can transform a website from just another yoga page to a vibrant, inviting space. So, together with the founders of Ziva Yoga, Marissa (the brilliant copywriter) and myself, we dove deeper and find out how we can bring those stories to life, adding a sprinkle of personality and a dash of authenticity.

Here are the results!

After taking a few classes with Ziva Yoga, I really started to get their approach. Each session felt like more than just stretching and breathing – it was like a deep dive into mindfulness and connection. Their approach with students was so thoughtful and genuine, and it really stood out to me. Because of this, I was able to capture and convey their brand’s authentic, no-fluff philosophy in a way that truly reflects their spirit.

To bring this to life on their website, I chose Cirka and Adelle Sans typography. Cirka's elegant, sophisticated feel perfectly complements Ziva Yoga's deep, insightful approach, while Adelle Sans adds a touch of modernity and readability. Together, they create a visual harmony that mirrors the thoughtful and genuine experience of a Ziva Yoga class.

Pairing these typefaces with earthy tones and pops of bright colors was the final touch. The earthy tones ground the design, reflecting the calm and centered atmosphere of Ziva Yoga, while the bright pops add a spark of energy and enthusiasm, capturing the vibrancy of their community. It’s not just about yoga; it’s about creating meaningful experiences, and that’s the story I wanted to tell with every design choice.
